Glasgow Central gets ready for Euro 2020

Scotland’s busiest station is ready to play its part in moving fans around the country for Euro 2020. Glasgow Central will have a key role in getting thousands of fans to the four matches taking place at Hampden on June 14, 18, 22 and 29, where reduced crowds of around 12,000 will watch the games.

The station will also be a key departure point for the Tartan Army travelling to London for Scotland versus England on June 18.

To help keep the station operating smoothly and get fans where they need to be, Glasgow Central will be operating a queueing system for football fans travelling to these matches.

Designated queuing points will be set up on the main concourse on match days to help manage the flow of fans onto services and to limit the numbers boarding each train.

Fans are reminded that they will be expected to have a valid match ticket if boarding the special services for Hampden and are being urged to allow plenty of time for their journey.

Those fans heading south for the Scotland-England game are also being reminded that cross-border train services will be busier than usual.

Fans are urged only to arrive at the station for travel to London if they have a valid booking and seat reservation.

To help manage the additional crowds in the station, Glasgow Central will be deploying additional staff on Euro 2020 match days.

The station is also currently managing an enhanced cleaning regime due to COVID-19 and touch-points like handrails, door handles and lift buttons are being sanitised throughout the day using anti-viral cleaning agents. The station toilet facilities are also undergoing increased cleaning.
